Workshop Reference 004

Materials

Notes on the fabrics, leather, hardware, and thread used in the workshop.

Materials do most of the talking.

I look for fabrics, leather, thread, and hardware that wear honestly and make sense for the piece being built.

Fabric

Denim, canvas, wool, and twill are chosen for hand, weight, durability, and how they change with use.

Leather

Leather is used where it earns its place: handles, patches, reinforcement, and details that should age visibly.

Hardware

Buttons, rivets, buckles, and closures should feel solid without turning the piece into a costume.

Thread

Thread is not decoration. It is structure. Cheap thread is rarely cheap in the long run.
